The Art of Scarland
CONCEPT ART // MARKETING // ILLUSTRATION
The Art of Scarland is a not-for-profit fanzine celebrating GoodTimesWithScar’s passion project: Scarland, a meticulously crafted theme park inspired by Disneyland and built entirely in Minecraft. Organized by Hoffen, the project set out to reimagine Scarland as a real-life theme park, resulting in a beautifully curated 181-page art book filled with creativity and appreciation for Scar’s vision.
“This book is an act of love. Within these 181 pages, you’ll find work from dozens of artists who came together because we were inspired by the boundless joy, love and dedication that Scar has put into the Scarland project. You’ll find everything from illustrations to blueprints, and plenty more beyond.
Suspend your disbelief for a moment, if you would. Picture pulling this book off the shelf at the bookstore, and flipping through it. Our goal with this project is to imagine a world where Scarland is a real place, lush and alive. The Scarland in this book is a place guests visit every day, and it has concept artists and marketers, costume designers and chefs.
We want to show you that place, make it come to life for you, and let you dream of visiting yourself. We hope you’ll enjoy exploring our park as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it for you.
Now, turn the page and step forward into a world of imagination! And make sure to give Jellie a little scratch between the ears if you see her— she loves that.”
As a lifelong fan of theme park design and history, I was immediately drawn to this project. With over 260 applicants, I was honored to be selected as one of 61 artists bringing Scarland to life. I contributed to the marketing chapter, designing postcards and posters for the fictional park while collaborating with othercreatives to ensure consistency and cohesion across different artistic styles and mediums.
Originally planned as a free digital download, The Art of Scarland gained so much attention that physical copies were sold, with all proceeds benefiting Give Kids the World Village. Being part of this project was an incredible experience—combining my passion for design, theme parks, and community-driven creativity while working alongside talented artists from around the world.
